Lessons From A Empty Nest

My youngest son returned to college to start his sophomore year today. Each time he leaves, I get a lump in my throat because it is a reminder of the “empty nest” season that I am facing. There are no more little birds in the nest. Facing “empty nest” for me has been more than my children leaving home. My mind usually wonders to the loss of baby Abe. I think about how different things would haven been had he lived.

What needs to be removed?

For whatever reason, I have walked by this trailing vine of pansies that was slowly turning yellow for weeks.  I do know the simple 101 of gardening.  You should always remove any unhealthy foliage and dead blooms. Since I like my flower pots to overflow with trailing...

When life gets messy in high heel shoes

Overwhelmed, Invisible and Unimportant

Does this resonate with anyone today? Tuesday was a day packed full of meetings and there was no time to spare.   It was one of those days that if it could go wrong it did.     I really tried to manage my out of balance schedule and hold it together.  However as the...

“The World Didn’t Give It to Me”

“The world didn't give it to me and the world can't take it away.”  I don’t think I have previously grasped the real depth of the lyrics of that song we used to sing during the old days of youth choir until now.  In the book of Job it is said like this, “The Lord...
